Rattlesnake Hat Bands

What is Rattlesnake Skin?

Rattlesnakes receive their name from the rattle located at the end of their tails, which makes a loud rattling noise when vibrated that deters predators or serves as a warning to passers-by. Rattlesnakes are native to the Americas, living in diverse habitats from southwestern Canada to central Argentina. The large majority of species lives in the American Southwest and Mexico[95].
Rattlesnakes are a key element in Aztec mythology and were widely represented in Aztec art, including sculptures, jewelry, and architectural elements. The rattlesnake became a symbolic animal for the colonies during the Revolutionary War period, and is depicted prominently on the Gadsden Flag. It continues to be used as a symbol by the United States military, and political movements within the United States.
Snakeskin may either refer to the skin of a live snake--the shed skin of a snake after molting, or to a type of leather that is made from the hide of a dead snake. The skin of a snake is a physically protective layer. It helps prevent injury, prevents drying out, and helps snakes to move. The scales themselves help in locomotion by providing a friction buffer between the snake and the ground.
Snakes can be ornately patterned. They can be striped, banded, solid, green, blue, yellow, red, black, orange, brown, spotted, or have a unique pattern all their own. These color schemes can serve many functions, including camouflage, heat absorption or reflection, or may play other, less-understood roles[96].
Snakeskin is used to make clothing, such as vests, belts, boots or shoes or fashion accessories such as hatbands.

How do I attach a hat band?

A milliner will often use a hot glue gun to attach decorations to hats. Using a higher-quality craft glue stick will help cut down on the stringiness. It forms a strong and lasting bond. Moisture, humidity, and other environmental conditions won't interfere with setting or durability of the bond. Double-sided tape is widely used by a vast array of industries. It has been replacing rivets and fasteners for years and is used to attach everything from dashboards to mirrors in the auto industry. Tying with fishing line or using small lapel pins have been suggested, but I find those solutions are quite uncomfortable.

This band is curved to fit your hat, with little effort to lay flat.
As a replacement hat band, it will fit any hat, including the largest because it uses leather lace and bead tie at the back.

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my black leather snakeskin hatband. I placed the order on Friday night, and it arrived in my mailbox Monday! Everyone that has seen it raves about it. I have it on an ivory-colored hat, and it looks like they were made for each other. Needless to say, I'm singing your praises, and already a co-worker wants one of his very own. Thanks again for such great service and for such a work of art! Take care!
